Overview

Some career sites require an account or email verification before accepting an application. AI Apply handles these steps automatically, including two-factor authentication (2FA) codes sent by email, so candidates can complete their application through your product.

How does email forwarding work?

Each account uses a unique email address for the candidate. Once registration and verification are complete, Kombo forwards all emails sent to this address to the candidate’s actual email address, so they receive communications from the employer. Candidates can reply from their normal inbox, and Kombo forwards their replies to the original sender.

How does the candidate access their account?

After a successful submission, Kombo sends a confirmation email to the candidate’s actual email address with their proxy email address and instructions for accessing the account. Where available, this includes a link to the account or password-reset page. Kombo doesn’t store account passwords. For most ATSs, candidates can access their account by using the “Reset Password” feature on the career site with their proxy email address. The reset email is forwarded to their normal inbox. Once a candidate claims their account by setting their own password, AI Apply can no longer access it. For this reason, AI Apply creates a new account for each application, even when the candidate applies to the same employer again.

Setting up a custom sender domain

Kombo supports using your own domain for candidate proxy emails. We recommend this to build trust with candidates and recruiters. Applications where a custom domain isn’t enabled use our default whitelabeled domain. Contact our team for setup instructions. We support gradual domain warmup by increasing the share of applications that use your domain over time.
