# Handling bot protection

> How AI Apply submits applications as a normal applicant would on career sites with CAPTCHAs and bot detection, and the static IP available on request.

## Overview

Many career sites protect their application forms against automated traffic with CAPTCHAs, browser fingerprinting, and IP reputation checks. AI Apply is built to submit applications as a normal human applicant would, including being recognized as a real candidate rather than as automated traffic.

## How it works

* **A real browser, following the same flow as a candidate.** AI Apply opens the job posting in a browser, fills the form field by field, and submits it the way a candidate would. It uses a regular browser with a consistent, ordinary fingerprint.
* **Applications come from where the job is.** When you send a `location` with a posting, we use it to route the browser session through that country. For US jobs, you can also provide a postal code to route applications through the corresponding state. See the `location` field in [Job feeds](/ai-apply/job-boards/job-feeds#sending-an-import).
* **Bot protection is handled automatically.** AI Apply handles bot protection challenges when parsing job postings and submitting applications.

## Static IP allowlisting

Some employers want certainty about where application traffic originates. Kombo allows setting a static IP for application traffic, for employers to allowlist AI Apply traffic at your request.
